The HSBC Basketball Classic is a unique and exciting community event. Founded 8 years ago, it is one of the most inclusive and inspiring opportunities for basketball enthusiasts across the Lower Mainland. The HSBC Basketball Classic focuses on the character, community contributions and academics of the participants, coaches and managers.
With approximately 2,000 high school students and other local community members participating, the weeklong event kicks off the basketball season for the players, fans and coaches within the Lower Mainland. It includes Boys and Girls High School Basketball Divisions as well as a First Nations, Cheerleading, Youth with Developmental Challenges, Elementary School Age Division, Night Hoops [at risk youth] and Wheelchair Basketball Divisions.
For the 4th year in a row the DCYBA is participating in the Youth with Developmental Challenges division.
The DCYBA believe our players will benefit from participation in this tournament by:
Each team will participate in a round robin format consisting of the 4 teams each playing 3 games. Length of each game will consist of 16-minute halves with 6 minutes for half time and 15 minutes in between games.
The Team with the most points at the end of the Round Robin will be the Round winner and will receive a trophy. All players entered into the tournament will also receive recognition and a participant trophy.
